Lifetime Politicians
When people seek to engage in the political process, to serve in political office. Not for the benefit of the people, but for the benefit of themselves, corruption ensues. Terms like reach across the aisle, bipartisan support. All become terms for, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.
One only has to look at the actual legislation put forward by this current Congress, to see bills, rife with such pork.
In a recent immigration bill. There were segments regarding welders since when did welders have anything to do with immigration?
Lifetime politicians, I believe start out in earnest for the good of the country, however, soon after arriving in Washington. They become indoctrinated in the process of participation in the "Bigger Picture".
As politicians serve multiple terms more and more they become of the opinion that they know better than their constituents what their constituents need.
they begin to think of their constituents as uneducated uninformed and uninvolved, therefore, they believe they have the free right to act in their best interest as they see fit. Rather than in the manner which their constituents would have them do.
This was most recently demonstrated in the battle over immigration reform. Masses of citizens revolted against the policies being forwarded by Congress and the Bush administration. This was literally a civil uprising of citizens letting their representatives know that they were mad as hell and they weren't going to take it anymore. They demanded to be heard, they demanded to be obeyed. This tenant comes directly from the sacred documents of the foundation of this nation. When we speak of being a nation governed of the people by the people for the people.
are general views of Washington and the politic their is that they're all corrupt, except the person who represents our self, who somehow through television and other acts of media exposure. We believe to be one of us, someone thinking like us and representing us. Nothing could be further from the truth, they think and represent themselves. Not the constituents of America.
As those the represent the citizens of America are subject to more rapid turnover. There is less opportunity for lobbyists and influence peddling to take effect into their heart and into their life, causing them to ignore, even to directly oppose the will of the citizens they represent.
When this nation was founded. It was founded by farmers, businessman doctors and lawyers, with the desire to build a new nation conceived in liberty, justice for all men, with hearts given to service They never thought there would come a time when people would earn the living and service a career politician. in their dreams and in their vision of America, good men and women would go to Washington to serve for a season for a time and then they would return to their homes to their crops to their businesses. They would not plan their retirement on the backs of the citizens, it is time for a life time politicians to be removed. It is time for the process and the policies which have bread and foster career politicians to end.
it's time for regular Americans, regular patriots to serve this great land, they need not be lawyers, they need not be deceived by the influence peddlers who seek to corrupt the fabric of America. Now is the time that the words of John F. Kennedy ring out in our ears more clear than perhaps at any time "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country".
